I'm not sure why the existence of linux gets you going, but (and this may shock you) no one thinks valve is altruistic. Your hatred for penguins is blinding you to how useful proton is, and the widespread support developers are giving it. Proton does not need valve hardware to justify its existence, as unlike steamOS, proton runs on all linux platforms that run steam, and is widely used. So unless you are doing some nu-world math, no, steam machines were NOT used to push proton. Steam machines first hit the scene in 2015, and most were discontinued in 2016, including valve's own hardware. It seriously just doesn’t like large GOG games but will install them fine.Playing a major role in fixing AMD's driver stack, re-writing x.org sections to improve performance, playing a major role in linux driver stack and kernel development, you know, "HE DID SOMETING ONE TIME".īruh, normally you can make some good points, but you are TOTALLY off base here. The Heroic devs are most likely aware since there’s been posts in the bug section. People recommend just leaving it, and pausing/restarting when you want to know how it’s going. It’s suppose to be better in Desktop mode but it’s pretty much still has issues. If you pause the download, save the files and restart it, it will display the time correctly until it goes wonky again. Heroic reports time incorrectly - it’s an very old issue. Thanks for the replies though, hopefully it works this time. I wonder if my ISP was annoyed at me for hogging bandwidth though, I only received my steamdeck on Thursday, and I've been downloading games since then! So I'm wondering if it was a network issue, even though everything else seemed to be working fine (I was watching youtube on my PC with no issues). It says 25% done, and 2:15 hours remaining. Well, everything seems to be working fine now. I decided to give Heroic another go, as you said that even tho the visuals said it had stalled, it was still going.
